As it should!! You guys have done some good work out there from what I am hearing.... Newbie and all I can't really attest to it, but am trying to do my part to make it a better experience for all. It's close to home and a fun trail. Might loose some visitors once RLP re-opens, but I am loving this trail right now. Good workouts. smile

BTW... Posted this over on DORBA and thought maybe I should here for those seeking a "better" temporary trail map. At least until the other stuff re-opens.

Might not be the best... but here, for those that may not make it today, here's an "updated" map I jsut threw together real quick from one of my rides out there. It's not perfect but between the descriptions above, and this, I would hope your sense of direction is good enough to "figure it out". If not, might not be a good idea to venture out into the woods on a MTB if your sense of direction is that bad. smile

Oh yah, ignore the mile markers as this from a work day and we walked the trail backward/forwards, etc so they are not exactly right. And that shoot out to the left is the first parking area you come to, it was my first time out and I didn't know where to park, the spots over near the trail head are a lot closer and drops you at the Head, so double bonus. Cheers!

I've only ridden there once last year.....leaves all over but not too bad to follow the trail. Probably be better once it is beaten in.

Went out this morning at 11 to check it out and run my dogs.. Trail is still slightly tacky in some areas, and slick in like 2 low spots. Should be good to go tomorrow and or Friday.

I broke my chain about 3/4 of the way around my first lap, since I had tools in the car and the trip got cut short; I decided to work the trail for a bit. I spent 3 hours working the first section from the trail head to the pavilion. I cleared the rest of the face slapper and cleared out the corners that were still kind of deep with brush slowing you down quite a bit. We should be able to hit the first section hard and fast now, except for the stumps that need removing still. I also took the hack saw to the rebar that was sticking out of the rock on the last section just before the trail ends. I'm bout to leave to head down for the signage work and hopefully get my new chain put on and ride a couple laps.

Is there someone at Dorba and/or FWMBA that I should be reporting my work hours to?

Brian - You should report your hours to Matt Kocian. Matt is the trail steward. his screen name here is K+Ocean. I am sure you will meet him tonight.

What is a good average time for the course. Not Matt hot lap time,:) I need a marker to build on. I mean including the area that runs next to the soccer field not the cut in?

If you can complete a lap in 15-20 minutes, I would consider that an average pace, but my fastest lap is like just under 12 minutes. Usually when i ride with other people we ride moderate pace and we complete it in about 15-25 minutes depending on heat and trail conditions. But that would be moving at a pretty good rate for 3 miles.

I rode this morning with my dogs, which is a slow pace and this is what we did...

last night we did 5 laps averging about 15.15 a lap...nice smooth non race SS pace.
That did include my buddy looking at the cliffside view too long and taking a nice endo after doing a front wheelie for about 5-6 ft......greatness.......LOL
