Mission Statement
The Fort Worth Mountain Bikers' Association (FWMBA) is an all-volunteer, 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting responsible mountain biking through trail construction and maintenance, education and organized events throughout the year. As an affiliate member of the International Mountain Bike Association, FWMBA's primary focus is to work with public landowners and/or managers for land access to build, operate and maintain bike trails.

FWMBA has memorandums of agreement with the City of Fort Worth for trails at Marion Sansom Park and Gateway Park. To date FWMBA has logged over 6,500 man hours of volunteer work in these two city parks.

Our flagship trail at Marion Sansom Park is over 7 miles long, has an elevation gain of nearly 1,100 feet and offers spectacular views of the western horizon over Lake Worth. During its construction, our volunteers removed over 6 Ð 40yd dumpster loads of debris and approximately 700 discarded tires. The club received a letter of endorsement from the Fort Worth Police Department for transforming the park, which had a reputation for unlawful activity, into a place people now visit to enjoy its natural beauty, diverse wildlife and one of the most challenging trails in north Texas. The Marion Sansom Park Oak Motte received Fort Worth Heritage Tree status as a result of FWMBA recognition of its historical significance and ties to the community.

With its wide, sweeping turns, flat elevation and proximity to the Trinity Trail, the mountain bike trails at Gateway Park serve as an entry level mountain bike facility for kids and families. With over 3 miles of trail completed and more to come, FWMBA looks forward to making a positive contribution to the Gateway Park vision set forth by the City of Fort Worth with future additions to our new trail at Gateway Park.

FWMBA also promotes responsible off-road biking through its various educational programs. We host introductory clinics for beginner mountain bikers that emphasis safety, trail etiquette, and riding fundamentals. We offer skills clinics for riders of all levels and provide instructional workshops on the techniques of building and maintaining off-road bike trails.

Our monthly club meetings also provide a forum to discuss issues relevant to the mountain biking community. FWMBA meets the first Tuesday of every month at the West 7th Street location of Backwoods.

FWMBA sponsors a podcast called, The Mountain Bike Whisperer Radio Show. MBW Radio interviews local and state mountain bike personalities about all aspects of the sport as well as highlights club news and events. MBW Radio is available for download on our website via the forum or on iTunes for free and is produced for the benefit of the community.

Funding for the Fort Worth Mountain Bikers' Association is provided through membership dues ($20 for individuals and $25 for families), donations, fund-raisers, and public and private grants.
